The Cayuga Bird Club is delighted to host this year’s NYSOA meeting! Founded in 1913, with more than 300 current members, our Club provides members and the community with opportunities to learn about birds, local birding habitats, and the environment.
The Club’s outreach activities are for beginners, experienced birders, youths, and nature enthusiasts alike. This includes hosting public meetings and presentations, guiding bird walks, coordinating the annual Christmas Bird Count, offering ornithology courses, publishing monthly newsletters, and leading field trips to destinations near and far.
The Club installed two Motus Wildlife Tracking Systems in 2019 and 2022, filling a major gap in coverage for this region. These stations gather valuable data on radio-tagged birds passing through our area.
The Club’s Conservation Action Committee provides environmental education and engages community members in restoring and enhancing habitats for birds and other wildlife.

The New York State Ornithological Association (NYSOA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to documenting the ornithology of New York state, fostering interest in and appreciation of birds, and protecting birds and their habitats. NYSOA comprises more than 40 member clubs and organizations, as well as hundreds of individual members. Each year, a member club hosts the annual meeting at their home location.
NYSOA's 78th annual business meeting, with delegates from bird clubs across New York State, will take place at the conference on Saturday afternoon. Among the activities of NYSOA are a number of awards given in recognition of service, accomplishment and assistance in furthering the goals of NYSOA and ornithology in NY State. NYSOA awards will be presented on Saturday evening, following the banquet dinner.
The Kingbird, NYSOA's premier quarterly journal, includes articles on birds, bird behaviors, field reports and rarities as well as data on migration, breeding and distributional changes across the state.
The New York State Young Birders Club (hosts of Saturday afternoon’s Bird ID Challenge), is a special NYSOA project that brings together like-minded youths ages 10-19.
